"Effect of Body Position on Medication Effectiveness: Study Reveals Surprising Findings"

As we know, each type of medication requires specific conditions to derive the best benefit from it, such as taking the medication with or without food. However, what may surprise many is that the position in which the medication is taken can also affect its effectiveness, as it affects approximately 85% of the drug's distribution in the intestines.

A recent study conducted in the United States on a computer model of a 34-year-old human demonstrated the researchers' testing of the medication's effectiveness in various positions while lying down, such as an upright position, a slightly tilted position to the right, and tilted positions to the left and backward. The study found that the slightly tilted position to the right was the most effective, while the tilted position to the left was the least effective.

The tilted position to the left during ingestion is less effective due to hindering the medication from reaching the lower part of the digestive system. As a result, all the effects of the dissolved medication are retained from entering the duodenum, the part that connects the stomach to the small intestine, thus failing to benefit from the dose.

Therefore, the conclusion is that taking the medication in an upright or seated position is advisable. However, if unable to sit, taking the medication while lying down is recommended, preferably on the back or the right side, and avoiding taking the medication while lying on the left side.
